MAKE-UP WHERE IT MATTERS

As of 2020, it’s face masks in, lipsticks out (you’ll need this for a non-sticky lip treat). Also, removing a clammy face covering to reveal patchy foundation is kind of gross. So my paltry attempts at piling on the slap will be redirected to eyes for now. To which end, I defy you to not be seduced by Marc Jacobs’ new See-Quins Glam Glitter Liquid Eyeshadow (Dhs120). My favourite is the fairyish, pale pink, hologrammy Moonstoned, with the lemony-gold Shimmy Dip coming in a close second. Frame the effect with the new At Lash’d mascara for epic definition and make socially distanced Bambi eyes over your mask. As far as mascaras go, this one is definitely in my top three (along with Guerlain La Petite Robe Noir and Lancôme Cils Tint, which, along with my favourite Shiseido mascara base, has been discontinued, rendering these recommendations somewhat defunct). It goes on softly, which is an odd way to describe mascara application I know, but it’s the truth; it’s like layering your lashes in tiny cashmere sweaters. I like a mascara that finely coats each lash, lending definition and length rather than bulk, and At Lash’d is fully clump-free.

With summer hols off the agenda, Marc Jacobs’ Glow Away Bronzing Coconut Body Stick (Dhs175) smells like the desert islands we’re not actually going to be visiting this year. It blurs imperfections, lends a bronzed sheen and is happily waterproof (essential for the humidity of a Middle Eastern summer). So while it might be a summer of Privilee rather than paradise, at least we can look like an island goddess. Well, smell like one anyway.
